Pura Vida Mind & Body

Questions, answered honestly

Choosing psychiatric care comes with real questions. Here are the ones we hear most from patients across Arizona — clear answers, no confusing terms, no pressure.

Services & Care

What psychiatry services do you offer in Arizona?

Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, ongoing medication management, and personalized treatment plans for ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma — delivered via telemedicine.

Do you treat both adults and children?

No. Our practice is dedicated exclusively to adults ages 18 to 64.

Do you offer telemedicine appointments in Arizona?

Yes. We provide secure telemedicine visits across Arizona, ideal for both initial evaluations and follow-ups. You must be physically located in Arizona at the time of your visit.

How do I know if I need psychiatry vs. therapy?

If ongoing mood changes, focus issues, sleep problems, or emotional stress are affecting your daily life, psychiatric care may help. We'll guide you toward the right fit during your first visit, and refer out to a therapist if talk therapy is the better primary need.

What conditions do you commonly treat?

ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma-related concerns.

Is my provider licensed and experienced?

Yes. Care is provided by a licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) experienced in serving Arizona patients, with a focus on ethical, clearly communicated care.

What happens during the first appointment?

We review your concerns, goals, and medical/psychiatric history. You'll leave with a clear discussion of next steps and available care options.

Is telemedicine as effective as in-person visits?

For most psychiatric follow-up and medication management, yes — it offers the same clinical continuity without travel time.

Do you offer personalized treatment plans?

Yes. Every plan is tailored to your history, goals, and response to treatment, and adjusted as your needs change.

Medication & Controlled Substances

Can you prescribe controlled substances (like stimulants for ADHD) through telehealth?

Yes, under current DEA telehealth regulations, following an initial evaluation and appropriate follow-up monitoring. Some medications may require an in-person visit or additional documentation depending on current federal rules.

Will I need to sign anything for medication management?

For certain medication classes, a Controlled Substance Agreement outlines expectations around safe use, monitoring, and pharmacy coordination — this is standard practice, not a sign of distrust.

Cost & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?

We accept several major commercial insurance plans and are actively expanding our network, with self-pay also available and a transparent rate card. We work with third-party billing partners to manage insurance claims and verify coverage. Contact us to confirm your specific plan.

What does a visit cost if I'm paying out of pocket?

Self-pay rates are shared upfront, along with a Good Faith Estimate before your first visit, as required by law for uninsured and self-pay patients.

Do you offer any membership or package options?

Yes — tiered care packages (Foundations, Momentum, and Pure Life Membership) are available for patients who want bundled, predictable pricing. Ask our team which tier fits your needs.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid (AHCCCS)?

Not at this time. We currently operate as a self-pay practice with select commercial insurance partners, and we may add Medicare and AHCCCS participation in the future as we grow.

What is your cancellation/no-show policy?

Details available at intake and in your patient agreement.

Needs exact policy language
How quickly can I get an appointment?

We typically offer availability within a few days; telemedicine often allows even faster scheduling.

Privacy & Logistics

Is my information kept private?

Yes. We follow HIPAA privacy standards, and our Notice of Privacy Practices details exactly how your information is used and protected.

How do I message my provider or view records between visits?

Through our secure patient portal, where you can also view visit summaries and upcoming appointments.

What happens in a mental health emergency?

We are not an emergency service. If you're in crisis, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline immediately, or go to your nearest emergency room.

How do I get started?

Book online or contact our team directly, and we'll help you schedule the right first visit.

Still have a question?

We're happy to talk it through before you book anything.
