How our telehealth visits work, and where our services are licensed to be delivered.

In short: due to state licensure requirements, you must be physically located in Arizona at the time of your appointment. Our care is provided by an Arizona-licensed clinical team.

Who Provides Your Care

Pura Vida Mind & Body PLLC is an Arizona-licensed psychiatric practice, owned and operated by a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Services are provided directly by our licensed clinical team.

Where You Must Be Located

Due to state licensure requirements, telehealth services are available only to patients who are physically located in Arizona at the time of their appointment — not just an Arizona resident, but actually in the state when the visit takes place. If you are traveling outside Arizona on the day of a scheduled visit, please let us know before your appointment so we can reschedule; a visit conducted while you are outside the state may not be permitted under our provider's license.

Who We See

Care is provided exclusively to adults ages 18 and older. We do not currently provide care to Medicare or Medicaid (AHCCCS) patients.

Prescribing Controlled Substances by Telehealth

Federal rules allow telehealth prescribing of certain controlled substances (such as stimulant medications for ADHD) without a prior in-person visit, under flexibilities the DEA and HHS have extended through December 31, 2026. Some medications may still require an in-person visit or additional documentation depending on current federal and state rules, and these flexibilities are subject to further federal action after that date.

We'll update this page if federal telehealth prescribing rules change. For certain medication classes, a Controlled Substance Agreement outlines expectations around safe use, monitoring, and pharmacy coordination.

How a Telehealth Visit Works

Visits take place over a secure, private video connection. You'll need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. If technical issues prevent a video visit, we may complete the visit by phone when clinically appropriate.
